| This is a ruined tower house built by Maurice fitzGerald about A.D. 1215 It is six storeys high with stepped battlements above the roof line. It is unusual in that it has more arrow loops than are seen on contemporary buildings. Just north of the house is a round tower which had been part of the Bawn wall.

| This is possibly one of the best preserved un-restored fifteenth century tower houses in Ireland. In front of the main doorway is a small Bawn with gunports, above the door is a machicolation enabling the defenders to drop missiles Esc on attackers.

| This castle was once the residence of the Ballyragget branch of the Butler family. It is a fifteenth or sixteenth century four storey rectangular tower house.

| This high grass and tree covered mound is the remains of a motte and bailey castle built around 1217 by William Marshall.
